Fourteen years ago, the remnants of a 6000 year old temple were found in North West Peru, beneath a garbage heap. A small group of archeologists, biologists, anthropologists and restoration ecologists from the not-for-profit organisation ASICAMPE, have been uncovering this site very gently, working deeply with the energy and sacredness of the site. No electronic equipment has been used for this project, all of the excavation work has been done barefoot and by hand.
When ASICAMPE first began to uncover the Huaca Montegrande site, it became clear that there was a magnificent stone spirit guarding the temple underneath. From the photo's below, you can see the head, and body, with a huge spiral coming out of the spirit being's womb space, winding down into the deopths of the temple. A powerful feminine spirit has been protecting this sacred place of worship for thousands of years.
History will be changed as we know it...
This temple pre-dates the pyramids of Egypt, the Incas and the Nazcas. This discovery is set to change the history of the Amazon as we know it, as until now it was beleived that the people of the Amazon 6000 years ago were hunter gatherers. This temple aligns to the stars, and marks the Solstices and Equinoxes, as well as being a place of worship, proving that these people were way more advanced than history had thought. An advanced civilisation, that until now, has been secret.
Ancient Cacao Vessel Discovered...
And it doesnt stop there. The archeologists of ASICAMPE have recently found a ceramic cup containing Ceremonial Grade Criollo Cacao. This pottery was carbon dated at 5500 years old, meaning that this ancient temple held a significant connection to the powerful medicine of Mother Cacao, who we all know and love so deeply. WOW. They have uncovered an immensley powerful temple dedicated to a feminine spirit, with evidence of worship to Cacao. This is the oldest discovery in the whole of the Amazon and the whole of Peru...it's a groundbreaking find.
But this temple needs our help.
The small not-for-profit organisation ASICAMPE, have run out of funding and by Peruvian law, they will be required to recover the site and bury it once again, if they do not receive the required funding by the beginning of December 2024. They need to find funding of $50,000 by the beginning of December, to keep this project alive and save this incredible temple from being covered once again. As you can imagine, if this happened it would be devastating to everyone involved in this discovery, and everyone who holds Cacao dear to their hearts.
How can we help?
This is our time to give back my loves. To tap into the immensity of Cacao's medicine and the transformations, healings, magic and transmutations that Cacao has held for all of us on our journeys with her medicine. This is a time to offer back our gratitude to her, by way of a donation to keep this work alive. No donation is too small. No donation is too large. Every little bit counts!
This temple will change the history of Cacao as we know it, and will highly likely become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in years to come, a sacred place of pilgrimage.

Huaca Montegrande Podcast Episode Coming Soon..
This episode will be launched on Friday 15th Novemeber 2024
I have the absolute pleasure of interviewing Karen Gordon, biologist and restoration ecologist from Costa Rica who has been working on restoration projects in Peru for 10 years. She is an associate of ASICAMPE, and has been working tirelessly to share the story and the message about Huaca Montegrande with the English speaking cacao community around the globe. Karen's work helps to safeguard the indigenous communities and ancient cacao tree varieties around this temple site, as well as protecting and supporting the temple itself.
